Passing of a Municipal Employee

Mr Trevor Botha, Municipal Manager of George Municipality said the news of the tragic loss of Dino Paulse (23), one of George Municipality's interns at Library Services and the son of an esteemed colleague, came as such a shock.“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family and friends during their time of mourning. Please know that the family is in our prayers. George is a close knit community and our deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the other two deceased.

Dino tragically died in a car accident with two other friends.

Our Director: Community Services, Mr Walter Hendricks, (where Dino was employed) said during the time Dino has been working with the Municipality he has made valuable inputs and had a remarkable ability to grasp the particular business we are in i.e. service delivery to our community. We are reminded of his wonderful input towards the item in the Community Development and Libraries Committee agenda of 23 February. He eloquently and professionally contributed to and was able to answer the questions put to him by individual councillors.

He has in the short period at George Municipality left a legacy in that he has spearheaded and introduced the Britannica Online Awareness Programme for Juniors, Students and Adults with regards to Research, School Assignments Completion and Work Projects.

Dino’s immediate superior, Ms Rachel Williams, Manager: Library Services, said the deceased was such a joyful person and made everyone else happy around him. “I remember an incident where one of the youngsters were dancing outside the building and she asked him why he was so happy? He replied he is so happy Dino is back. Dino was on a short break to visit his family in Paarl about two weeks ago.

She said in a few months at the Municipality he made such an impression on people around him, we are devastated. Williams said she will remember him as an innovative, loyal and very wise young man and in this short time he started projects in the department which are already flourishing and others that are still in the pipeline. “We will miss him.”

Dino’s memorial service will be held at George Civic Centre on Thursday at 13:00.

He leaves behind his parents, brother and sisters.
