Onwettige Storting

Impak op koste van vullisverwydering

Die onwettige storting van vullis en rommelstrooiery bly een van die grootste probleme waarmee munisipaliteite te kampe het en dit het ‘n groot impak op die koste van vullisverwydering, dus ook op die tariewe vir vullisverwydering.

Die publiek kan elke week sewe sakke vullis vir die normale weeklikse vullisverwyderingsdiens uitsit. Ten spyte van hierdie diens word vullis nog steeds op oop gronde en sypaadjies in die minder gegoede woonbuurte gestort. Die onwettige storting verg dan spesiale projekte vir daardie woongebiede. Bo en behalwe die normale, weeklikse vullisverwyderingsdiens word die volgende dienste in hierdie woongebiede gelewer.

Die woongebiede is in 16 areas verdeel, elk met sy eie bakkie kontrakteur en 9 werkers. Hulle tel slegs vullis op wat met die hand opgetel kan word. Die 16 areas is in 6 groter areas verdeel, elk met sy eie toesighouer. Die toesighouers verseker dat die bakkie kontrakteurs en hul werkers hul werk na behore doen.

Aanvullend tot hierdie diens is daar ‘n voltydse laaigraaf en 4 wipbakvragmotors wat daagliks onwettig gestorte vullis uit die woongebiede wegry. Hierdie diens werk op ‘n vooraf opgestelde program waarin alle areas ten minste een keer per maand skoongemaak word. Die CBD area het dan ook ‘n span werkers wat daagliks rommel optel.

Die totale koste van straatreiniging (uitgesluit vulliskolleksie en die bedryf van die vullisterrein, oorlaaistasie en openbare toilette) beloop jaarliks R14.6m waarvan die bakkie kontrakteurs 50% uitmaak.
