Minister of Human Settlements visit housing site

Minister of Human Settlements, Honourable Bonginkosi Madikizela accompanied by Executive Mayor Melvin Naik, Councillors and officials visited the newly build houses in Protea Park on Human Rights Day.

The Protea Park Housing Project consists of 71 low-cost housing plots and 8 (FLISP) Finance Link Individual Subsidy Programs (National Housing Program) plots identified for persons who live the longest continuously in the informal settlement.

Madikizela said his department’s mandate is to give housing to empower and to employ. He said with projects like these all we adhere to the mandate. He said George is a big construction site and many development projects still awaits. “George is the next big thing the Western Cape,” Madikizela said. He congratulated the home owners.

Mayor Naik thanked the contractors, officials and housing committee for their work and congratulated the new home owners. He said there is a great need for housing in George and people who received houses should please look after it.
