Mayor Clarke holding the reins until Mayor Naik returns

George Council and Municipality has recently undergone a trying time which is acknowledged as troubling to the public of George. The Executive Mayor, Ald Melvyn Naik is on leave until 25th May 2018 and the Deputy Executive Mayor ,Cllr Charlotte Clarke is Acting Executive Mayor until the return of Alderman Naik.

There is an investigation into various allegations by the Hawks and the legal process will take its course. The administration and basic municipal service delivery continue unabated.

“I would like to assure all of the communities of George including Wilderness, Uniondale and Haarlem that my focus and that of the Council of George  is to maintain stability during this tumultuous period. The administration remains positive and committed at this time to maintaining the service delivery standards that the public of George expects,” said Acting Executive Mayor, Charlotte Clarke.
