Madiba Day: Community Development 67 Minutes

The George Municipal Community Development department with their Portfolio Councillor, Ald Mercia Draghoender, assisted two elderly homeowners on Madiba Day by giving their homes makeovers.

The homes are situated in Versveld Street, Borchards and Coetzee Street, Touwsranten. The staff of Community Development painted the houses on the inside and outside, cleaned the homes afterwards and cleaned the yards. They bought a loose carpet covering for the floor and gave the homeowners a food hamper and thick blankets for winter. Some of the staff put up a stand outside the homes to pamper local children and elderly with facials and manicures. The staff also provided soup for the community.
