Impact of protest march on go george bus service

A protest march from the Conville Community Hall to the George Municipality on Wednesday 13 September 2017 will impact the GO GEORGE bus service along Nelson Mandela Boulevard and York Street. Passengers need to take note of the following arrangements aimed at minimising disruption of the service.

Delays on routes 9, 13 and 14 (the two industrial routes and the City Loop) must be expected along Nelson Mandela Boulevard between 09:00 and 14:00, while a diversion from York Street will apply to the Pacaltsdorp routes 1A, 1B, 60 and 60A on their way into town. Between 10:00 and 14:00, these buses will wait when they encounter marchers at the intersection of York Street and Nelson Mandela Boulevard, and divert here by turning right into Nelson Mandela Boulevard, left into Meade Street, left into Market Street and right into York Street at the Post Office, continuing on its normal route from there onwards.  This is to avoid the closed-off section of York Street between Nelson Mandela Boulevard and Market Street. The Marthinus bus stop 1021 will not be operational while York Street is partially closed off. Possible delays might be experienced on the way back to Pacaltsdorp, but no diversions are being planned for the return route.

The entire system might experience delays, but the situation will be closely monitored for the duration of the march on Wednesday, and any changes to the plan will immediately be communicated on the GO GEORGE Facebook page. The GO GEORGE Call Centre will also have the latest information and can be called on 0800 044 044.

GO GEORGE apologises for any inconvenience caused by this march
