Glenwood Avenue closed to traffic

The George Municipal Civil Engineering Department would like to advise the public that Glenwood Avenue is closed to vehicle traffic. This road was not designed and constructed to accomodate traffic other than as vehicular access for residents in the (then) Glenwood and Kraaibosch area that consisted mainly of small holdings.

With the development of the Kraaibosch area a roads masterplan for the area was concluded. This master plan indicates the main distributor roads necessary to accommodate the new traffic generated by the various developments. The construction of these new roads is funded through the developers, and the Servitude Road, access to Groenkloof, and the Knysna Road signalised intersection have been constructed to date.

Servitude Road, the road adjacent to Kraaibosch Development. gives access to Groenkloof. Glenwood School and the surrounding small holdings, still have access from the Glenwood/Saasveld Intersection.
