George Municipality honoured its long serving employees at a spectacular annual grand dinner held in the George Civic Centre on 28 November 2017.
Executive Mayor, Aldm Melvin Naik said it is indeed a privilege to be in the presence of employees that have made a difference in and impacted the lives of the citizens of our city on different spheres. “ I have no doubt in my mind that our human capital is the greatest asset of our Municipality. We are giving due recognition to the stalwarts that have served the George Municipality with loyalty, dedication and commitment.”
“You gave and are currently still pouring your skills, gifts, heart and energy into ensuring that your department stays a functional and serving one. Although this gesture is quite modest when compared to the amount of energy and standard of loyalty that you have invested into the organisation, but we commend and applaud you for building and strengthening the very fibre of our organisation.”
Ald Naik said: “We often neglect to say thank you and well done, but this event is all about you, the recipients of the long service awards ranging from 10 to 40 years. During this time, you engaged actively with members of the community and through it promoted community development. You have remained steadfast during very challenging times- remained focussed on the task at hand in being servants to our communities.”
Ms Leveinia Botha, from Sport Development and Mr Adrian Kraai from the Legal Department were the Masters of Ceremonies at the event.
