The George Municipality distributes black refuse bags to homes and businesses every three months.
Every packet contains 26 bags, which is an average of about two bags per household or business per week. The municipality encourages citizens to reduce waste and use blue bags for recyclables – to lower the impact on the environment and minimise waste management costs to the municipality and its people.
Citizens using more than 26 black bags per quarter must buy their own additional bags.
The next round of black bags will be distributed on designated refuse days on the week of 26 February to 2 March 2018.
Black bag distribution for 2018 is as follows:
Blue recycling bags are distributed every week – for every bag you set out, you get a blue bag back. Additional blue bags can be collected from the Municipality’s Community Services building in 82 Meade Street, George.
